The Type 55 engine is based on the MITSUBISHI 'K' series engine, and offers a lightweight, low profile engine designed to suit the tightest installation. The Type 55 is easy to install and economical to operate and features:

  • Compact Design for Easy Installation

A full range of options are available allowing you to tailor your engine to fit your individual requirements. The specifically designed Keel-cooled (Skin-tank) version is particularly attractive for canal and inland waterways steel narrowboats up to 37 feet in length.

Marine Transmissions

The standard Marine Transmission is the PRM 80 mechanical gearbox. Optional alternatives include the Hurth HBW 50 or HBW 250 or PRM 120 or PRM150 gearboxes. Optional reduction ratios are also avilable to the standard ratio listed and are subject to compatibility with the chosen propellor size.

Instrument Panels

The standard Instrument Panel comprises warning lights for Alternator/Glow Plugs/Water Temperature/Oil Pressure, Warning Buzzer, Electric Starter Key switch & 3mtr Wiring Loom. Optional Upgrades are also available.

21 bhp @ 3000 rpm Special Applications Only

19.6 bhp @ 2700 rpm Pleasure (Intermittent Rating)

18 bhp @ 2700 rpm Commercial (Continuous Rating)
